A Song For The Lovers
Originally written by Richard Ashcroft for The Verve's Urban Hymns but left off that album after three different versions were recorded, "A Song for the Lovers" became Ashcroft's first solo single following the band's break-up. Inspired by Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart," the song peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart and reached number nine in Italy and number six on the Canadian Singles Chart.
