All by Myself

Written by Eric Carmen, "All by Myself" was released by Arista Records in December 1975 as the first single from Carmen's self-titled debut album. The verse is based on the second movement of Sergei Rachmaninoff's 1900–01 Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, while the chorus was taken from "Let's Pretend", which Carmen had written and recorded with the Raspberries in 1972, and the song reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100.
