Tupac Shakur first emerged as a backup dancer and roadie for Digital Underground in 1991, appearing on their track 'Same Song' before launching his solo career. His 1995 album Me Against the World became the first by an incarcerated artist to debut at number one on the Billboard 200. By his death in 1996 at age 25, he had sold over 75 million records worldwide and become one of hip-hop's most influential figures.
