Antony and the Johnsons

Antony and the Johnsons formed in New York City in 1998, centered around English singer Antony Hegarty's distinctive alto voice. The project combined chamber pop arrangements with deeply emotional songwriting exploring themes of identity and transformation. Their 2005 album I Am a Bird Now earned the Mercury Prize and featured "Hope There's Someone," bringing Hegarty's theatrical vocal style to international attention.
