Barrington Levy emerged from Kingston, Jamaica in the late 1970s as a major voice in reggae and dancehall music. Recording his first hits as a teenager, Levy became known for his distinctive vocal style that blended singing and toasting. His work with producer Henry "Junjo" Lawes in the early 1980s produced influential tracks that helped shape the dancehall sound, including "Here I Come" which became one of his signature songs.
