This American synth-pop band formed in Los Angeles in 1978 around vocalist Terri Nunn and bassist John Crawford. Their 1986 single "Take My Breath Away," written by Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock for the film Top Gun, reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
