Black Uhuru formed in Kingston, Jamaica in 1972, becoming one of the most successful reggae groups of the early 1980s. With lead vocalist Michael Rose, the group recorded several critically acclaimed albums blending roots reggae with modern production techniques. Their 1984 album "Anthem" won the first Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album, cementing Black Uhuru's place as major figures in reggae's international expansion.
