Burning Spear

Burning Spear, born Winston Rodney in Saint Ann's Bay, Jamaica in 1945, is a roots reggae artist who began recording in 1969 after being encouraged by Bob Marley. His 1975 album "Marcus Garvey," produced by Jack Ruby, stands as one of reggae's most important recordings, celebrating the Pan-African political leader. Burning Spear has maintained an uncompromising commitment to Rastafarian themes and African consciousness throughout a recording career spanning five decades.
