One of pop music's most enduring icons, with a career spanning six decades from 1960s duo Sonny & Cher to late-'90s dance-pop reinvention. She scored four US number-one singles including "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves" (1971), "Half-Breed" (1973), "Dark Lady" (1974) and "Believe" (1998), which pioneered the use of Auto-Tune as a vocal effect.
