Curtis Mayfield

A soul and funk singer-songwriter who brought social awareness themes into soul music during the civil rights movement. After leaving the Impressions in 1970, he released the soundtrack for the 1972 blaxploitation film Super Fly, addressing issues like crime, poverty and drug abuse.
