David Sylvian
David Sylvian first came to prominence as vocalist and songwriter for the British band Japan, which was active from 1974 to 1982. After Japan dissolved, Sylvian launched a solo career that explored ambient soundscapes, jazz influences, and experimental composition. His 1987 album Secrets of the Beehive featured introspective songs with sophisticated arrangements. Sylvian has collaborated with artists including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Robert Fripp, and Holger Czukay.
