Emerson, Lake & Palmer formed in 1970 as a British progressive rock supergroup featuring keyboardist Keith Emerson, bassist/vocalist Greg Lake, and drummer Carl Palmer. Their ambitious albums combined rock with classical influences, including adaptations like their version of Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" from the 1977 album "Works Volume 1." The trio released several acclaimed albums throughout the 1970s, including "Tarkus" and "Brain Salad Surgery."
