Funkadelic
Funkadelic formed in 1968 as the rock-oriented counterpart to Parliament, both led by George Clinton. While Parliament focused on slick funk, Funkadelic incorporated heavy guitar, psychedelic rock, and raw production on albums like "Maggot Brain" and "One Nation Under a Groove." The band's experimental approach and politically charged lyrics created a harder-edged sound that pushed funk into new sonic territory during the 1970s.
