Huey Lewis and the News formed in San Francisco in 1979, developing a blues-influenced rock and roll sound that found major commercial success in the 1980s. Their album "Sports" (1983) produced multiple hit singles and sold over seven million copies. The band contributed "The Power of Love" to the "Back to the Future" soundtrack in 1985, which became their first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100.
