Michael Sembello is a Philadelphia-born guitarist and singer-songwriter who worked as a session musician for Stevie Wonder before launching his solo career. His 1983 hit "Maniac" from the "Flashdance" soundtrack became a chart-topping smash, though the song was originally written as a dark track about a serial killer before being reworked. Sembello released several albums throughout the 1980s, showcasing his jazz-fusion guitar skills and pop songwriting.
