Rainbow
Rainbow was formed in 1975 by former Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, who wanted to pursue a harder-edged rock sound with medieval and classical influences. The band went through numerous lineup changes throughout their career, with Blackmore as the sole constant member alongside various vocalists including Ronnie James Dio and Graham Bonnet. Their albums 'Rising' (1976) and 'Long Live Rock 'n' Roll' (1978) showcased a heavy, fantasy-themed sound, while later releases like 'Down to Earth' (1979) brought more commercial success with radio-friendly rock.
