Robert Johnson was a Delta blues guitarist and singer who recorded his complete works in just two sessions in Texas during 1936 and 1937. His songs including "Cross Road Blues" and "Sweet Home Chicago" became foundational to the blues genre and were later covered extensively by rock musicians. Johnson died in Mississippi in 1938 at age 27, leaving behind only 29 recorded songs that profoundly influenced modern music.
