Sabaton formed in Falun, Sweden in 1999, specializing in power metal focused on historical military themes and warfare. The band's lyrics draw from real historical battles and military events, delivered through energetic, anthemic metal with prominent keyboards and dual guitar work. Their 2005 debut album "Primo Victoria" established their signature sound, with subsequent releases exploring various conflicts from World War I, World War II, and other historical periods.
