The Marvelettes

Formed in Inkster, Michigan in 1960, the girl group became Motown's first successful female act with their 1961 number-one single "Please Mr. Postman", one of the first number-one singles by an all-female vocal group. They managed a comeback in 1966 with "Don't Mess with Bill" before disbanding in 1970.
