Be Happy
Written by Mary J. Blige, Sean "Puffy" Combs, Arlene DeValle, and Jean-Claude Olivier, this lead single from her second album My Life (1994) samples Curtis Mayfield's "You're So Good to Me" (1979) and features a re-sung vocal portion of Marvin Gaye's "I Want You" (1976). The song reached number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number six on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, becoming her fifth top-ten single on that chart.
