Clarkson wrote this song with David Hodges and Ben Moody when she was 16 to cope with her parents' divorce, though her label rejected it for her debut album Thankful. Released as the third single from Breakaway in August 2005, it peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the European Hot 100 Singles chart, becoming Clarkson's biggest success in Europe. The music video, directed by Vadim Perelman from Clarkson's own treatment, won Best Female Video at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards.
