Burning Up

Madonna wrote this dance and new wave track for her 1983 self-titled debut album, with Reggie Lucas producing. Released on March 9, 1983, as her second single with "Physical Attraction" as the B-side, it reached number three on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart and number 13 in Australia. The Steve Barron-directed music video juxtaposed surreal imagery with a sequence in which Madonna, first shown vulnerable on a road, ultimately takes control behind the wheel of an Amphicar.
