Brian Wilson conceived "California Girls" during his first acid trip while thinking about women and Western film scores, with lyrics partly inspired by the Beach Boys' first European tour. Written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love, it appeared on the 1965 album Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!).
