Recorded August 9, 1995 at Sony Music Studios in New York, this set is now best known for what happened midway through: original drummer Peter Criss and guitarist Ace Frehley walked out to join Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley on "2,000 Man" and "Beth" — their first performance together in thirteen years. The reception was so unanimous that the original-lineup reunion tour was announced months later, becoming the highest-grossing tour of 1996.
