Live at the Washington Coliseum
The Beatles
Washington Coliseum, Washington, D.C.
Two days after their Ed Sullivan debut detonated Beatlemania across America, the Beatles played their first U.S. concert — in the round, on a rotating stage, before some 8,000 screaming fans at the Washington Coliseum. Between numbers the drum riser was turned by hand so the band could face each section, as they tore through a short set barely audible over the roar.
