This traditional 12-bar country blues song was first recorded by Bo Carter in 1928 and later copyrighted in 1932 by Armenter Chatmon with publishers Mitchell Parish and J. Mayo Williams. The song has been recorded in numerous styles including blues, jazz, rock and roll, Cajun, and Western swing.
