Crawling King Snake
Big Joe Williams first recorded this Delta blues as "Crawling King Snake" on March 27, 1941, performing on vocal and nine-string guitar. The song is believed to have originated in the 1920s and relates to earlier works like Victoria Spivey's "Black Snake Blues." John Lee Hooker's 1966 version became one of many interpretations of this blues standard.
