Steve Barron
Steve Barron directed some of the most technically ambitious music videos of the early MTV era, from the rotoscoped pencil-sketch animation of a-ha's "Take On Me" (1985) to the computer-animated sequences of Dire Straits' "Money For Nothing" and his early work with Michael Jackson on "Billie Jean." He was equally at home with the synth-driven sound of the period, shaping clips for The Human League, Heaven 17, Tears for Fears and Toto, as well as the surreal space-age visuals of ZZ Top's Afterburner era. His two videos for David Bowie's Labyrinth soundtrack so impressed Jim Henson that Henson recruited him to direct the television series The Storyteller, and Barron later moved into feature films.
