Written by frontman Tom Keifer, "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)" was released in August 1988 from Cinderella's second album Long Cold Winter and became their most successful single, peaking at number 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The music video was filmed at Mono Lake in California and nearby Bodie State Historic Park, featuring buildings including the Methodist Church, the Hydroelectric Building, and the Standard Mill.
