Written by Ken Bell, Terry Nelson Skinner, and J.L. Wallace, "Even the Nights Are Better" spent four weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart in mid-1982. The song reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 1982, but set a record for the highest drop from the top 40 when it fell from number 6 to number 42 the following week.
