Written by Simon Gallup, Roger O'Donnell, Robert Smith, Porl Thompson, Lol Tolhurst, and Boris Williams, this track from The Cure's eighth studio album Disintegration (released in 1989) became the band's first number-one single on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, staying on top for seven weeks. An extended mix with a lengthy 4:00 instrumental introduction was later included on the 1990 remix album Mixed Up.
