Gold Digger samples Ray Charles's 1954 recording I Got a Woman, with Jamie Foxx — who had recently portrayed Charles in the biopic Ray — performing the interpolation. The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming West's first chart-topping single. The music video, directed by Hype Williams, uses a retro pin-up magazine aesthetic. West won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 48th Grammy Awards for the track.
