"Honey" was written and produced by Mariah Carey, Sean Combs, Q-Tip, and Stevie J, sampling "Hey DJ" by The World's Famous Supreme Team and "The Body Rock" by the Treacherous Three. Released in July 1997 as the lead single from Butterfly, it became Carey's third single to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100, staying at number one for three consecutive weeks and topping charts in Canada while reaching the top ten in several other countries.
