Madonna - Justify My Love

Justify My Love

Written by Ingrid Chavez and Madonna, and produced by Lenny Kravitz, the music video for "Justify My Love" was directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino and filmed at the Royal Monceau Hotel in Paris. In November 1990, MTV refused to broadcast it — citing sadomasochism, bisexual imagery, and brief nudity — making it the first video the network had banned outright. Madonna responded by releasing it as a VHS video single priced at $9.98, which sold 500,000 copies and proved that banned content could be commercially marketed. She appeared on ABC's Nightline to defend the video.
