Killing Me Softly With His Song
Written by Charles Fox with lyrics by Norman Gimbel, this song was originally inspired by a Don McLean performance in 1971 and first recorded by Lori Lieberman in 1972. The Fugees' 1996 version with Lauryn Hill on lead vocals became a number-one hit in twenty countries, including Germany where it became the first single to debut atop the chart, and won the 1997 Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
