Written and sung by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon-McCartney, “Let It Be” was released on 6 March 1970 as a single and later as the title track of the Beatles’ album. The song debuted at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached number one for two weeks, becoming the Beatles’ next-to-last number one hit before “The Long and Winding Road.”
