Written by Joe Strummer and Mick Jones, this title track from The Clash's third studio album was recorded at Wessex Sound Studios in London with producer Guy Stevens starting in August 1979. The album bridged punk rock with reggae, rockabilly, ska, and other styles, sold over five million copies worldwide, and was ranked number 16 on Rolling Stone's 2020 list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
