Written by Joe Strummer and Mick Jones, this title track from the Clash's third album was recorded with producer Guy Stevens at Wessex Sound Studios over a five-to-six-week period starting in August 1979. The album bridged punk rock and new wave while exploring reggae, rockabilly, ska, and other styles.
