Written by Eminem and composed and produced by Eminem, Jeff Bass, and Luis Resto, this lead single from the 8 Mile soundtrack became Eminem's first Billboard Hot 100 number-one, remaining there for twelve consecutive weeks and topping charts in nineteen other countries. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, becoming the first hip-hop song to do so, and also won Grammy Awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Solo Performance.
