Marquee Moon
Released February 8, 1977, this debut album by Television was recorded at A & R Recording in September 1976 with producer Tom Verlaine and sound engineer Andy Johns. Verlaine and guitarist Richard Lloyd abandoned punk's power chords for jazz-inspired interplay and complex instrumental parts on longer tracks. The album achieved unexpected UK commercial success despite poor US sales, and ranked 107th on Rolling Stone's 2020 list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
