It reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and the top-five in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, Japan, and the UK, while its music video directed by Mary Lambert pays homage to Marilyn Monroe's performance of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" from the 1953 film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
