Manfred Mann - Mighty Quinn

Mighty Quinn

Bob Dylan wrote and first recorded this folk-rock song in 1967 during The Basement Tapes sessions, but Manfred Mann's January 1968 version as "Mighty Quinn" became a great success. Dylan is widely believed to have derived the title character from actor Anthony Quinn's role as an Eskimo in the 1960 film The Savage Innocents. The song's subject is the arrival of Quinn, who brings joy to people while preferring a relaxed lifestyle and refusing hard work.
