Co-written and co-produced by Williams with Stephen Duffy (who also plays acoustic guitars, bass, and harmonica on the track), "Misunderstood" was released as the second single from Williams' Greatest Hits compilation in December 2004. The song peaked at number eight on the UK Singles Chart and reached the top 10 in Denmark, Italy, and the Netherlands, and was featured on the Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason soundtrack.
