Amy Lee and Ben Moody wrote this piano power ballad when they were 15, with the earliest recording dating to 1997. Released as the third single from Fallen (2003), it peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped charts in Canada, Greece, and Portugal. The music video directed by David Mould was filmed in black-and-white in Gothic Quarter, Barcelona, and received an MTV Video Music Award nomination for Best Rock Video.
