Pull Up To The Bumper
Written by Grace Jones, Kookoo Baya (Sly Dunbar), and Dana Manno, "Pull Up to the Bumper" was released in 1981 from the landmark album Nightclubbing and became one of the defining songs of the post-disco era. The track's barely-concealed double entendre — a car metaphor for seduction — matched perfectly with Jones's commanding, androgynous persona, sculpted in collaboration with photographer and director Jean-Paul Goude. Born in Jamaica and raised in New York, Jones had built her image as a fashion model before becoming one of the most visually striking performers of her era. The song has remained a staple of club culture for decades.
