Written by June Carter and Merle Kilgore, this song was first recorded as "(Love's) Ring of Fire" by Anita Carter in 1962 before Johnny Cash's 1963 version became one of his biggest hits. Cash's recording stayed at number one on the country chart for seven weeks and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, with Rolling Stone calling it the greatest country song and the 87th-greatest song of all time.
