Written by vocalist Louise Wener and drummer Andy Maclure, this became Sleeper's first top ten UK hit when released on 22 April 1996 as the second European single from The It Girl. Wener described the protagonist as embodying how love creates insanity while rationality persists, exploring themes of powerlessness and unfulfilled desire. The single was backed with "Atomic", Sleeper's cover of the Blondie hit recorded for the Trainspotting soundtrack.
