The Boxer
Written by Paul Simon for Bridge over Troubled Water (1970), this folk rock ballad was released as a standalone single in 1969, then included on the album nine months later. The lyrics are largely autobiographical, written when Simon felt unfairly criticized, discussing poverty and loneliness.
