Written by Nas and Pete Rock for Nas's debut album Illmatic, this song was released in May 1994 and reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart. The track samples Ahmad Jamal's "I Love Music" and pays homage to Scarface, while also referencing drug dealer Howard "Pappy" Mason and the unsolved Texarkana Moonlight Murders. The single was certified Gold by the RIAA in January 2019.
