Written by Marshall Crenshaw, Jesse Valenzuela, and Robin Wilson as the lead single from the Empire Records soundtrack, this song topped the Canadian RPM 100 Hit Tracks chart for six weeks in 1995. Released as a double-A side with "Follow You Down" in the US, it peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1996, with Billboard describing it as "the closest thing to a perfect pop song to hit radio in recent memory."
